Yesterday I turned 24 and I had one of the best birthdays to date.
I woke up to Heather and Jon‘s cat, Kitty, staring me down from across the room. I had just spent a lovely evening with them- one of those unexpectedly incredible evenings full of laughter and conversation- ending with Jon playing me a little birthday tune on his guitar. How great it was to wake up in a new friend’s home with the cutest cat in the world hanging out with me. It was the perfect start to my day!
I then headed back to Seattle to meet up with my good friend Dorothy, and her friend Yvonne who is visiting from Malibu. After missing technically 2 ferries (we were running late so we decided to take the 11:25 instead of 10:40 but then we missed the 11:25 by 45 seconds!) we just sat and talked and laughed. Oh and I ran into Kip who was also trying to make the ferry, but we all failed. I had a bag of Famous Amos cookies and Dorothy edited some photos of this adorable couple she had just taken the other day.
We then finally got over to Bainbridge Island to eat at my favorite place over there- Pegasus Coffee. I had a delicious baked egg and sausage dish with Gruyere cheese on top and a croissant. Then we all took photos of each other walking around Bainbridge. This is when I created this frame:
Every time I have my camera on me- I try to create one strong image. And this is that image. I’ve definitely tried to push myself creatively more- it’s definitely a challenge and frustrating most days, but when I hit the shutter and just have that gut feeling that I’m creating something awesome- it’s the greatest and it makes me realize how much I LOVE photography.
After our day of fun we headed back to Seattle where I got ready for dinner and a night out with friends- new and old (mostly new). I put on my ‘sophisticated’ face and a new black classy dress I got back in NE over Christmas and headed for a fun night out! Julie and I ate at Shiku Sushi in Ballard- where I had my favorite Zig Zag roll, a Manny’s and finished it off with an amazing green tea ice cream and tempura dessert that tasted like a funnel cake with ice cream- OMG it was so delicious!
We went to a couple bars in Ballard and lots of great people came out- including Shari and her fiance Anthony, Dana, Katie, Dorothy and Yvonne, Amber and Ellie, and Catherine and Chantal. It was a truly perfect evening. Thanks everyone for the drinks and laughs. (And Amber for that trail mix!) It was amazing spending my birthday surrounded by great friends!! 🙂
