I warned you in the title- this is a ginormous post- apparently I’m making up for the fact that I haven’t blogged in almost a month with this overloading post- but I narrowed it down from thousands of images so I’m feeling pretty good about that.
Wow- 2012- what A YEAR! I photographed 3 weddings of my own, second shot 19 weddings, 17+ family sessions, and my first maternity and boudoir sessions. I am so thankful for all the support I’ve received from my family, friends (new and old), and the warm welcome I received from the photography community this year. I couldn’t of done it without your help and love. I am overwhelmed with joy and so proud I pushed myself last year as much as I did- because I learned so much and am a better photographer and person for it. I was lucky enough to travel to Arizona, Nebraska, San Fransisco, Portland, and Santa Barbara this past year for work and play. I had so many incredible friends come and visit me this year and stayed in my extremely small quarters of my studio- Lindsey, Colleen, Kat & Alan, Calvin & Cara, and Tone- and met a ton of new friends at Sean Flanigan and Jenny Jimenez’s workshop I took in April- Heather, Ketti, Val, Kelly, and Corissa are such creative and amazing people that I’ve been lucky enough to know and get closer to. I also did a one on one mentorship with Heather and Jon of One Love Photo– my favorite husband and wife duo (can’t forget about Kitty!) who have been so supportive and really helped me with my business- I couldn’t be more fortunate to have gotten to learn from Sean, Jenny, Heather and Jon this year- if you ever get a chance to take a workshop from any of them, I HIGHLY recommend it!
I love Seattle so much- mainly because of how welcoming the community is. I’ve been pushed hard creatively because there is so much talent out here! Last year was my first full year here and I am 100% certain that this is the city I’m supposed to be in. I love what I do and the people I encounter in life because of photography- it’s a great feeling to have when people connect with your work and become friends after the fact!
Okay- I’ll stop blabbering.. I can’t wait to see what 2013 is going to bring my way- I’m headed to South America to travel around for 5 weeks with my best friend, Katherine, and you better believe I’m bringing my camera. 🙂
Thanks to all the families who welcomed me into their homes, brides and grooms who trusted me to capture their day, the photographers who pushed me and liked me enough to have me by their side during wedding season. I hope to shoot with more of you this year! 🙂
Some people that I can’t leave out: My dad, godmother, sisters, little bro, and brother in law- I know I’m a lot to handle so thank you for loving me no matter what! Mom- even though you’re not here I know you are helping me stay out of trouble! 🙂 Apparently my love for chocolate and convincing people to do things they really didn’t want to do comes from you. My friends thank you for that.
#stimph- AKA Steph and Tim- YOU GUYS GOT MARRIED LAST YEAR AND I WAS THERE. I love you both (and Brick too) and I am so happy I can come invade your space in Seattle now instead of having to take a ferry over to Bainbridge! 😉
Dorothy- GIRLLL you put up with me so much and I have no clue why. You are the kindest and most loyal friend- thanks for the endless nights you stayed at my place and for putting up with my madness last year. And for all the photo adventures. You rock.
Kirsten, Lindsey, Katherine, Andie, Tone, Cliff, Ross- the core high school group still lives on- thanks for being the best friends to me in the whole world. You should all move to Seattle. Just sayin’
Hannah- I love you so much. You understand me so well. 🙂 Thanks for being my hand model (and model in general) and such an incredible friend.
The photographers I shot with this year! (In no particular order) Adele Cabanillas, Dana Pleasant, Dorothy Huynh, Kip Beelman, Jeff Marsh, Tonhya Wysong, Andria Lindquist, Saskia Mizushima, Jenny Wohrle, Jeremy Hohengarten, Yee Feng, Krista Welch and Anna Wu. You guys made this year magical for me. Thank for you teaching me and letting me shoot with you.
Photo adventure people! Dorothy, duh you are all over my blog and of course are mentioned again in this section, Dan and Lauren Muller from The Mullers (thanks for the laughs and margs) and since we are in the Nebraska section- a big shout out to my new friend Wyn Wiley who wrote me the most incredible email this year saying he loved my work- well buddy, your work is pretty stellar! Amber Zbitnoff– two adventures last year- one in which I literally almost was eaten by the earth when I started to seep into the mud. Phil Chester! You are hilarious- thanks for running around in the rain with me and Dorothy in Portland! And Kara Mercer, even though we didn’t go on an adventure last year- we will this year I promise! 🙂
Thanks EVERYBODY! Love you all! 🙂 (If I forgot anyone it’s because I’ve been working on this post for 2 days and things are a bit foggy so please forgive me!)
