Adventure, lots of love and laughter is what I experienced on this shoot on Sunday. Carrie and Pete embrace life and are goofy, sarcastic and fun together. My idea for this shoot came from 500 days of Summer- one of my favorite films. There’s a scene in the movie where Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt run around Ikea and pretend it’s their house. It’s my favorite scene in the whole movie and after I saw the light in Crate & Barrel I had to pitch my idea. Carrie reminds me a little bit of Zooey, so maybe that’s what sparked my mind and I also knew how fun this couple was after our initial meeting so I wanted to do something different. After that, Carrie and Pete hopped in my car and we drove on the 520E towards Steven’s Pass, where I had just been skiing the day before and saw a bunch of great spots I wanted to shoot at. After an almost 4 hour adventure, we stopped at McDonald’s to get some McFlurry’s while we sat in traffic for another hour plus waiting to get home.
To say we got to know each other well would be an understatement- you spend 5 hours with people you just met and the stories come out. Pete told me of the things he used to do to get out of doing the stuff he didn’t like- such as tutoring other students to trade out the tasks that weren’t the most exciting that he had to do. Carrie told me all about her sweet family and how she is trying to get her sister to move out here- maybe after you see these photos you will! 😉
I couldn’t be more ecstatic to photograph their wedding on Labor Day weekend- they have friends and family coming from all over the US to celebrate their love. Thanks for getting crazy with me, you two- it’s a day I’ll never forget! 🙂
