I have a pretty special wedding to share with you today, one of my favorites of 2014 and it was also my first of the year! Today also just happens to be their 10 month anniversary- I can’t believe it’s already been almost a year!
Willie and Kelsey have a sweet love story. Since it’s always better in their words, here’s a little from Kelsey: “We met in high school; the first time i saw him was my first day of junior year. he was wearing neon orange shorts and shirt lol how could i not see him? we ended up sharing a lot of mutual friends but I (Kelsey) distinctly remember willies sister introducing me to him. he was very short at the time. heehee. Also when senior prom came for me and I had no date, Willie (2 years younger than me) agreed to be my prom date as a friend. after high school we continued to hang out all the time, I was also close with his family and i considered him a best friend! There was a point in time which we grew apart for awhile, in the middle of 2009 we got together to catch up and things were different! There was a different connection between us, and our relationship grew into something beautiful! We had a very strong friendship base to begin with which has always been so awesome to us. After nearly 4 1/2 years of dating, this January, (January 8th to be exact..my birthday) willie proposed to me!! Happiest day of my life! Willie and I have matching tattoos for our favorite quote “if you’re a bird, I’m bird.” his arm says “if you’re a bird” and my arm finishes with “I’m a bird.”
Now if that isn’t the sweetest thing, I don’t know what is. The Notebook also happens to be one of my favorite movies of all time, so I already connected a lot with these two from our first email correspondence! I loved everything about this day, from it being in Kelsey’s childhood home backyard, to the handmade tables by Kelsey’s dad. So much thought and detail went into this day and I was thrilled to be a part of it.
I also loved how it was down pouring the day before the wedding, and even the morning of, but they still stuck to their plan of having everything outside without a tent and just turned the plates over when it stopped raining and the sun came out for the ceremony and didn’t leave once after that! It was a true Washington backyard wedding. Love you two!
