My dad came to visit me and we took a little vacation to Whistler thanks to a Living Social deal I found. We started off at my sister and brother in law’s cabin at Lake Cushman where we had a fresh crab dinner with corn on the cob my dad flew from Nebraska to Washington! Then we headed over to the Kingston ferry for our very long journey to Whistler. I first went to Whistler a year and a half ago with my dad and good friend Katherine for a skiing trip which ended with me being taken down on a lovely toboggan ride. (Long story). So after that experience, I felt like the next time I traveled to Whistler I should avoid the snow.
On the way into Canada, we wanted to stop to get gas, and were actually lead into a crazy detour that ended in a casino. We passed a sweet barn on the way, so instead of having it be a wasted detour, I stopped to take a few photos. That’s the fun thing about detours… sometimes they actually bring a fun adventure or awesome photo shoot.
We did a 6 mile hike into Lake Garibaldi, which means it was 6 miles back… 12 miles later and with no food because my dad forgot to grab the cliff bars, I was about ready to keel over. Thankfully there was the most beautiful view of snow caped mountains surrounded by crystal clear water that made the trek all worth it. My jaw just about dropped when I saw the view and well, as you’ll notice below, I took quite a few photos.
I managed to do the longest hike of my life without breaking any bones or passing out, so I feel very accomplished! This probably is one of my favorite posts I’ve ever done and I’m excited about all the opportunities there are to hike and explore in the PNW and Canada. It’s just so beautiful.
