NYC in film

I have always dreamed of going to NYC- and last October my dream came true. My friend Andie met me there from Nebraska and we stayed with our friend Dani from high school. We met up with our friend Kelsey (you might remember the dance post I did of her), and my friends Ashley, Andrew and Levi came and hung out with us a bit too.

What an incredible trip. I was sick almost the entire time and was very slow moving for most the days, but maybe this helped me stop and really look at things. I love film so much and I was so excited to do some personal work again. Thanks to my friends for helping my sickly self along and being patient with me- I know it’s not the easiest traveling with a photographer (we tend to want to stop everywhere and take photos of everything ;)!!)

I shot only two rolls while I was there, I think I brought about 15! This just means I have to go back and shoot more. Getting my film back today made me realize once again why I should NEVER stop shooting it. Such a mood it creates and I really love some of these frames below-especially the one of my friends Andie and Dani running up the subway steps, the crazy flared brick wall, and the man walking pass the Columbus Circle subway— just to name a few. Enjoy NYC… man I kind of wished I lived here….

Can’t wait to bring Car and the kids to NYC, but until that happens, we’ll just stare at your pics. You absolutely nailed the energy & excitement of the city.

Wonderful set, I’m loving the film! Especially the bridge frame, I think I went back to it three times. And now four. :)

These are amazing pics! When Kev opened them up on the computer last week, I was looking at them over his shoulder and I said: “Damn, she’s REALLY good!” And he replied: “Uh, YEAH, of course she is!”

I think this shoot is among my favorites. I particularly like the subway pic with all the people in front of the train (60 St & Broadway), the one with the 2 people walking up the stairs (with just the legs), & the cemetery pic.

Mom would be so proud of the person & the artist you’ve become. And I’m proud too. :) Love you, K.A.B..
