Life update- Photo Adventures and YWBSS Workshop

You’ve probably all been wondering where I’ve been lately! I’ve been on an amazing adventure of knowledge and new friendships! Last week I attended Sean Flanigan and Jenny Jimenez’s You Wanna Be Startin’ Something Workshop in Seattle. Before last week (arguably the best week of my life) happened, I had tons of friends in and out of town visiting and lots of photo adventures that I’ll be posting more photos from soon.

Right after my birthday I headed to Phoenix for a few days of sun and relaxation with my family friend of many years, Lonnie. She is 72 and kicking my butt with her energy. We had the most spectacular time together- exploring the Botanical Gardens in Phoenix and eating tons of great food- my favorite meal was at The Mission where we had table side guacamole, tacos that were to die for, and some really strong margaritas that made us both feel a little bit like we were floating. I can’t remember the last time I have just thoroughly enjoyed myself and had no agenda. We laughed and laughed- and we both decided that this was a must do yearly trip for me. Thank you Lonnie for being (always) the best hostess and showing me an incredible time that I will never forget.

I came home and my best friend Tone was here to greet me- we spent 4 days running around Seattle and celebrating my belated birthday- including a trip to Port Townsend with my friends Stephanie, Tim and Matt (I can’t believe Tone survived a road trip with not one, not two, not three, but FOUR photographers) and had so much fun! We also laughed a lot… and Tone was officially invited to not only Steph and Tim’s wedding in September (that I’m in and SO excited) but Tim’s bachelor party. I just love when my friends connect!

After Tone left, I had a brief break from traveling and visitors until my friends Cara and Calvin came for a quick one day/night trip to Seattle. We went to see the gorgeous cherry blossoms at UW and I had so much fun showing them the city.

Then I just had a week until Lindsey arrived- my incredible friend from Nebraska who I met in college. (I didn’t like her at first because I was scared she was going to steal my best friend Kirsten away… turns out she wasn’t and now we are all best friends!) You all also have to hand it to Lindsey because this girl hung with a LOT of photographers while she was here! We went on an amazing hike at Discovery Park on the most gorgeous Seattle day, ate tons of great food, and ended our lovely week with a weekend stay on Whidbey Island- which was a new place to visit for both of us! We stayed at The Captain Whidbey Inn and it is probably my most favorite place I’ve ever stayed. We stayed in a little cabin that we had all to ourselves (how romantic!) and enjoyed a candied almond, balsamic, stilton, and apple salad and fresh crab for dinner. It was out of control. We couldn’t have picked a better weekend for this- seriously! We ended our night with putting on our ROBES and heading to the hottub. Perfect, just perfect. Lindsey also had the fun task of being my model this whole trip so thanks for being such a trooper friend!

Last week. My GOD. Does it get any better than that? The workshop was by far one of the most incredible experiences I’ve ever had. I laughed, cried and learned a whole lot of valuable information from two of the top wedding photographers in Seattle. I’ve admired Sean’s work for I don’t even know how long- he is one of the greats- really being able to get true expressions out of his couples in some crazy secret voodoo connection way, and Jenny is a show stopper who really gets in there and creates some pretty incredible stuff- whether it be her honest and heartwarming family documentary images or her killer high kick wedding images- she just throws it down! This was a photography dynamic duo dream teamup and man did they re-instill in me my LOVE for photography and give me the confidence to take Seattle by storm! I can’t even explain how last week was except for a bunch of HEART EXPLOSIONS! 🙂 Thanks to both of you and all of my new workshop friends- Heather, Corissa, Adrian, Ketti, Lillian, Kelly, Val, and Joanna– oh and we can’t forget Jenny’s husband ROBIN who seriously made me so happy the whole time I was there!

And RockBox… you nor I will ever look at you the same. Lindsey and I performed Kiss the Girl in the most ridiculous fashion. Oh man. Good times.

Phew so there’s my update and why I haven’t been on my blog in a long while! So many posts to come- but here’s a few of my favorite images from all these adventures the past month:

Phoenix: March 4-7 (last 4 images are instagrams)

Table side Guacamole… YES PLEASE

Tone visits Seattle: March 7-11 (Port Townsend day trip) (Square set are instagrams)

Cara and Calvin visit Seattle: March 25-26 (Cafe Presse photos at the end are instagrams)

YWBSS Workshop w/ Jenny & Sean: April 3/4 (All except the first photo are instagrams)

Lindsey visits: April 1-9 (All squares at the end are instagrams)

WOWZA! That’s a lot of images… and I really narrowed it down to a few favorites from each adventure (except for Phoenix since I’m not doing a whole post on it.)

Thanks for all the love/fun/memories everyone. I can’t believe how incredible this past month has been. I hope the rest of the year is this exciting! 🙂

I appreciate you taking the time to look at this ginormous post- leave some love in the comment section! I would be thrilled to hear your thoughts! 🙂

I’ll be making full posts soon of Port Townsend, Cara and Calvin’s visit, and the rest of my week with Lindsey. XOXOXO
